What is Oscillations?

oscillations.ca is the source for new music events and performances in Vancouver and the surrounding region. This is the online meeting place where artists, presenters and the public share information, news and ideas. oscillations.ca serves Vancouver’s richly varied new music / sonic art community, and you will find reflected in these pages a wide diversity of music styles, genres and types of events.

The calendar is open to any groups or individuals with a new music event or music of an experimental nature. All listings are free, and should be submitted according to our guidelines. The online calendar is updated on an ongoing basis. The calendar captures the basic information about upcoming events; further details can be found by selecting a particular event. The calendar also allows you to browse events by specific genres by using the appropriate tabs (contemporary, electronic, improvised, jazz). Get Listed.

If you prefer, you can also sign up to receive calendar and performance information via email through the Contemporary Music Email List. In addition to a monthly calendar digest, occasional notices are sent out on this list with more detailed information on specific events. This list is not sold or traded with any other organizations and is used only by new music groups and artists for information on public events.

In order to serve the information needs of the new music community and interested public, oscillations.ca contains a number of other features. A Venues page lists the addresses of performance venues so you can easily find concerts and events. Regular new music radio shows are listed under the Radio link so you can tune in from home. And Vancouver’s various new music organizations are described briefly under Group Bios if you would like to discover more about who is bringing you these events.
